Introduction:
AVR-20 Voltage Regulator is an electronic device that allows the alternator to produce fixed output voltage. It has open chassis, molded resin design and is intended to be mounted on the alternator terminal box.
AVR-20 measures the voltage between one of the alternator phases and the neutral point and adjusts the DC voltage applied to the excitation winding until the desired voltage level is reached. The output stage of the output device is a half wave tyhristor associated with a freewheeling diode. basically the unit is compatible with all brushless type alternators. a stability adjustment pot is also provided for this purpose. the AVR-20 relay has a special-less electronic circuit design. the minimum residual voltage required to build is 5 V-AC.
the unit does not include moving parts; so it is capable of operating in highly vibrating environments. the AVR-20 includes a low frequency protection circuit. this feature reduces the output voltage during motor overload or shutdown. therefore, the diesel engine is protected from excessive torque currents generated by the high start of large electrical equipment. likewise, the diesel engine can be stopped under load without damage. the device connection scheme allows for quick and easy replacement.

AVR-20 Voltage Regulator is an electronic device that allows the alternator to produce fixed output voltage. It has open chassis, molded resin design and is intended to be mounted on the alternator terminal box. basically the unit is compatible with all brushless type alternators. a stability adjustment pot is also provided for this purpose.
the AVR-20 relay has a special-less electronic circuit design. the minimum residual voltage required to build is 5 VAC.
OPERATION:
the device operates at 230-volt phase-to-neutral voltage. the output voltage, as well as the internal voltage supply, is directly picked up from the voltage detection input. the device needs 5 V-AC for startup. the half wave tyhristor maximum output voltage is 115 volts. during operation, the device continuously monitors the input voltage and increases / decreases the voltage excitation in order to keep the input voltage to a constant value.
the AVR-20 keeps the alternator voltage change to a minimum in the event of a load change, and helps you reach the required voltage value quickly. the regulation is the PI type, the proportional reaction member is fast and the slow action helps the reaction unit to recover the precise set of voltage. the potentiometer stability adjusts the reaction speed of the device. this helps the unit to comply with a wide variety of alternators.
the AVR-20 is capable of producing up to 20 amps of direct current output. The alternator voltage can be adjusted through the built in potentiometer. also external voltage adjustment feature is provided, in this case the value must be 1 kilo-ohms external potentiometer. the low frequency protection circuit switches off the excitation voltage to prevent damage during the engine stop under load. the factory set protection value is 45Hz.
the terminals must not be connected to any alternator EXCITATION point but the unit. the NEUTRAL and EXCITATION (+) points are connected internally.
